Despite the fact that the vast majority of rental homes on the market forbid dogs, recent data reveals that Australian renters can't live without them.
On realestate.com.au throughout the past year, especially for houses, "pet friendly" came in first place on the list of the most often searched terms by tenants.
Despite the fact that most Australian homes now have pets, just one in seven rental properties on the market consider pets.
According to PropTrack senior economist Angus Moore, "pet friendly" is frequently among the most popular search phrases for renters.
"In part because not everywhere allows pets, and if you have a pet, it's an absolutely critical thing you're searching for," said Mr. Moore.
According to a recent poll by Animal Medicines Australia, the number of homes with pets has increased to an estimated 69% as a result of the pandemic's spike in pet ownership.
In Brisbane, Chermside, Coorparoo, and North Lakes are the most frequently searched suburbs for pet-friendly rentals. The most popular areas in Sydney and Melbourne for searching for pet-friendly properties were Blacktown, Ryde, and Marrickville, respectively.
"There is clearly a demand," said Mr. Moore. It appears that there is room for landlords to offer more pet-friendly rentals.
